The BarCodeReader tool reads 1D barcodes.
The following format is supported:
The tools EasyBarCode and
EasyMatrixCode does 1D and 2D code
reading.
Note: This tool is legacy and are replaced with the free
STC-0006 Barcode and
STC-0009 DataMatrix.
Setup
Reference - Reference system selection
Position - rectangular ROI setup
The ROI is managed by the buttons
- Paste - paste the ROI from the image to the scorpion clipboard
- Copy - copy the ROI to the image from the scorpion clipboard
Point & Click Clipboard Support
 The rectangular
ROI is defined by four points.
One point will change the center point.
Angle
- Auto angle detection - tries to find angle of barcode when activated
- Angle - traceline angle when auto detection off
- Activity treshold for angle detection - lower value means higher
sensitivity
Trace lines

Count - number of
trace lines

Trace step (pixels)
- normally 1 - given in pixels
- Line width (pixels) - 0 - trace line is not averaged - a higher
value will average N pixels perpendicular to the trace comb
Search criteria
- Auto threshold detection - when active the reader tries to find the
code gradient before decoding
- Threshold - edgefinder sensitivity
- Search mode - Peak | Threshold
Advanced
Filter
- Smooth base - 3 is normally a good value
- Smooth counter - 1 default - given i pixels
- The smoothing increasing with higher values
- Differentiation
- 0 - give threshold
- 1 - 1. order differentiation - the derivative - default normally
used
- 2 - 2. order differentiation
Decoding options
- Attempt collapsing lines - tries to improve code by using
information from several tracelines
- Search each line separately - try to decode every trace
- Adjust bars/gaps for uniform width - try to improve decoded line
positions
- Max number of attempts per search line - higher number increasing
execution time
Console logging - decoding information to be shown in console window
- Progress - decoding progress information
